The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 427% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dry vegetable exports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 410% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Gabon (X tons), Congo (X tons) and Equatorial Guinea (X tons) were the main destinations of dry vegetable exports from Cameroon, together accounting for 90% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Congo (with a CAGR of +18.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Gabon ($X) remains the key foreign market for dry vegetables exports from Cameroon, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Equatorial Guinea ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Gabon stood at -11.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Equatorial Guinea (+1.9% per year) and Canada (-0.5% per year).

In 2022, the average dry vegetable export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -16.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 40% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. X tons of dry vegetables were imported into Cameroon; which is down by -74.7% against 2021. In general, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 65%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dry vegetable imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of dry vegetable to Cameroon, with a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, dry vegetable imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by France (X tons), with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India totaled -11.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-2.1% per year) and France (-12.3% per year).

In value terms, the largest dry vegetable suppliers to Cameroon were India ($X), Egypt ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 71% of total imports. Serbia, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

The UK, with a CAGR of +27.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 6.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 19%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
