Frozen Vegetable Market Size in Cameroon

After three years of decline, the Cameroonian frozen vegetable market increased by X% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption showed a buoyant expansion. Frozen vegetable consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of frozen vegetables decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

In value terms, frozen vegetable exports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Belgium (X tons), the United States (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen vegetable exports from Cameroon, together comprising X% of total exports. The UK, Central African Republic, Canada, the Netherlands and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Central African Republic (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Canada ($X), the United States ($X) and Central African Republic ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for frozen vegetable exported from Cameroon worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.

Central African Republic, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average frozen vegetable export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Cameroon

In 2022, frozen vegetable imports into Cameroon fell to X tons, waning by X% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest frozen vegetable supplier to Cameroon, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen vegetable imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Lebanon (X tons), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belgium totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (X% per year) and Lebanon (X% per year).

In terms of the main suppliers, Lebanon, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average frozen vegetable import price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
