Ghee Market Size in Cameroon

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 92%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Belgium.

From 2016 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Central African Republic amounted to +91.7% per year.

Ghee Imports

Imports into Cameroon

In 2022, the amount of ghee imported into Cameroon surged to X tons, growing by 34% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,819%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ghee imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 2,130%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, France (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Cameroon, with a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, ghee imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X kg), with a 3.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France totaled +38.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+183.6% per year) and India (-19.7% per year).

In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Cameroon, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from France amounted to +34.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+239.6% per year) and India (-4.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average ghee import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 135%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
