Production of Mixed Condiments, Sauses and Seasonings in Cameroon
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning production reduced slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, the total production indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -4.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Cameroon
In 2022, after three years of decline, there was growth in overseas shipments of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings, when their volume increased by 3% to X tons. In general, exports enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 1,567% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 1,175% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Chad (X tons), Gabon (X tons) and Equatorial Guinea (X tons) were the main destinations of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports from Cameroon, with a combined 73% share of total exports. Central African Republic, Congo and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Central African Republic (with a CAGR of +50.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Chad ($X), Equatorial Guinea ($X) and Gabon ($X) constituted the largest markets for mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exported from Cameroon worldwide, together accounting for 72% of total exports. Congo, Central African Republic and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
Among the main countries of destination, Central African Republic, with a CAGR of +42.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -11.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Congo ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Congo (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Mixed Condiments, Sauses and Seasonings
Imports into Cameroon
In 2022, supplies from abroad of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings decreased by -12.3% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 137% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of mixed condiment, sause and seasoning to Cameroon, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), fivefold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Netherlands stood at +1.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+39.4% per year) and France (-1.4% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings to Cameroon, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Netherlands totaled +15.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+49.6% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+52.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average import price for mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 62%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+34.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
