The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 105%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

France (X tons), Finland (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of packaging materials exports from Cameroon, with a combined 96% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +11.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for packaging materials exports from Cameroon, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Finland ($X), with a 9.3% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to France totaled +1.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Finland (-8.9% per year) and the United States (-3.0% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Cameroon

Packaging materials imports into Cameroon expanded slightly to X tons in 2022, surging by 1.8% on 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, packaging materials imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +91.9% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 39%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

The United States (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of packaging materials imports to Cameroon, together comprising 27% of total imports. Spain, Russia, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, France, Sweden, India, China and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +35.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), South Africa ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the largest packaging materials suppliers to Cameroon, together accounting for 22% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +23.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
