Pumpkin Market Size in Cameroon

In value terms, pumpkin exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a moderate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 694% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
France (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Belgium (X kg) were the main destinations of pumpkin exports from Cameroon, with a combined 95% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +6.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for pumpkin (squash and gourds) exports from Cameroon, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to France stood at +17.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-8.3% per year) and Belgium (+1.2% per year).

In 2022, the average pumpkin export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Pumpkin Imports
Imports into Cameroon
In 2022, imports of pumpkin (squash and gourds) into Cameroon soared to X kg, with an increase of 50% against the year before. In general, imports saw prominent growth. Imports peaked at X kg in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, pumpkin imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X kg) constituted the largest supplier of pumpkin to Cameroon, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, pumpkin imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Moldova (X kg), threefold.
From 2013 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Brazil was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Moldova (-66.7% per year) and Ukraine (-58.5% per year).

Brazil, with a CAGR of 0.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average pumpkin import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 3.8%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+28.5%).
