The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. The exports peaked at X kg in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, refined olive oil exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 59%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Belgium (X kg), France (X kg) and Canada (X kg) were the main destinations of refined olive oil exports from Cameroon, together comprising 58% of total exports. Denmark and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 2.6%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Denmark (with a CAGR of 0.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for refined olive oil exports from Cameroon, comprising 30% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ireland ($X), with an 8.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to France totaled -16.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ireland (0.0% per year) and Belgium (-13.8% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+175.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of refined olive oil, when their volume decreased by -38.2% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 351%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, refined olive oil imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 402%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Israel (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of refined olive oil imports to Cameroon, with a combined 46% share of total imports. Tunisia, Switzerland, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Lebanon and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Switzerland (with a CAGR of +114.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X), Tunisia ($X) and Egypt ($X) appeared to be the largest refined olive oil suppliers to Cameroon, together accounting for 51% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Tunisia, with a CAGR of +64.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average refined olive oil import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 34% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($X per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+32.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
