Vulcanised Rubber Seal Market Size in Cameroon

In 2022, the Cameroonian vulcanised rubber seal market decreased by -22.8% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Vulcanised rubber seal consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of seals of vulcanised rubber increased by 26% to X tons, rising for the fourth consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 111%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, vulcanised rubber seal exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 103% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Gabon (X kg) was the main destination for vulcanised rubber seal exports from Cameroon, with a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, vulcanised rubber seal exports to Gabon exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Chad (X kg), threefold. Congo (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Gabon totaled +97.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chad (+52.2% per year) and Congo (+32.8% per year).

In value terms, the UK ($X), Congo ($X) and Gabon ($X) were the largest markets for vulcanised rubber seal exported from Cameroon worldwide, together accounting for 50% of total exports.

Gabon, with a CAGR of +48.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average vulcanised rubber seal export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -24.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 60%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Namibia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (-2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Cameroon

After two years of growth, overseas purchases of seals of vulcanised rubber decreased by -25.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 190% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, vulcanised rubber seal imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 145%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of vulcanised rubber seal to Cameroon, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, vulcanised rubber seal imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), more than tenfold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +23.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-14.4% per year) and Japan (+11.7% per year).

In value terms, the largest vulcanised rubber seal suppliers to Cameroon were China ($X), Japan ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 32% share of total imports. France, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Italy, the UK and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

In terms of the main suppliers, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +46.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average vulcanised rubber seal import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 66%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
