Telephone Apparatus Market Size in Cameroon

Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone apparatus exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 183%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of telephone apparatus exports from Cameroon, with a combined 47% share of total exports. France, Switzerland, South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, South Africa, Angola, Togo and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +12,525.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for telephone apparatus exported from Cameroon were the United States ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports. Hungary, Switzerland, South Korea, Indonesia, France, South Africa, Taiwan (Chinese), Angola and Togo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +29,723.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average telephone apparatus export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 182%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+136.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Cameroon

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of telephone apparatus increased by 20% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 584% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, telephone apparatus imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 104%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest telephone apparatus supplier to Cameroon, with a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, telephone apparatus imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), twofold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +7.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+18.6% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+18.3% per year).

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X), China ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) appeared to be the largest telephone apparatus suppliers to Cameroon, with a combined 87% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Sweden, France and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Italy, with a CAGR of +39.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average telephone apparatus import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
