Transmission Shaft Market Size in Cameroon

For the sixth year in a row, the Cameroonian transmission shaft market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 1.3% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption recorded a buoyant expansion. Transmission shaft consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports from Cameroon

In 2022, transmission shaft exports from Cameroon reduced dramatically to X tons, dropping by -19.3% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 145%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, transmission shaft exports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 96%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

The United States (X kg), Germany (X kg) and Central African Republic (X kg) were the main destinations of transmission shaft exports from Cameroon, with a combined 34% share of total exports. Italy, Indonesia, France, the UK, Congo, Tanzania and Ethiopia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +93.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest markets for transmission shaft exported from Cameroon worldwide, together comprising 46% of total exports.

Italy, with a CAGR of +69.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average transmission shaft export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -6.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 110%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Cameroon

In 2022, approx. X tons of transmission shafts and cranks, bearing housings and plain shaft bearings, gears and gearing and articulated link chain were imported into Cameroon; rising by 16% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, transmission shaft imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +87.9% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of transmission shaft to Cameroon, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. It was followed by France (X tons), with a 2.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +17.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-8.2% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+19.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of transmission shafts and cranks, bearing housings and plain shaft bearings, gears and gearing and articulated link chain to Cameroon, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 12% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +18.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-5.2% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+34.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average transmission shaft import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -18.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 39% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
