Water-Skis And Surfboards Market Size in Cameroon

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the Cameroonian water-skis and surfboards market, when its value decreased by -41.8% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption saw a abrupt decrease. Water-skis and surfboards consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Cameroon

In 2022, water-skis and surfboards exports from Cameroon fell to X units, reducing by -5% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 1,313% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, water-skis and surfboards exports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 492%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for water-skis and surfboards exports from Cameroon, with a 72% share of total exports. Moreover, water-skis and surfboards exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X units), fivefold. Ghana (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +62.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+27.4% per year) and Ghana (+22.1% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for water-skis, surfboards and sailboards exports from Cameroon, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Canada ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 2.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +69.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+41.2% per year) and France (-1.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average water-skis and surfboards export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -14.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 124%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ghana (+18.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Cameroon

In 2022, approx. X units of water-skis, surfboards and sailboards were imported into Cameroon; waning by -26.6% against the year before. In general, imports saw a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 162%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, water-skis and surfboards imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 239% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Spain (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of water-skis and surfboards imports to Cameroon, with a combined 56% share of total imports. Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +12.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest water-skis and surfboards suppliers to Cameroon were Spain ($X), the United States ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. France, Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Germany, with a CAGR of +17.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average water-skis and surfboards import price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -11.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 83%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
