In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture exports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 735%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Central African Republic (X units) was the main destination for wooden kitchen furniture exports from Cameroon, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, wooden kitchen furniture exports to Central African Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ghana (X units), fourfold. Morocco (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Central African Republic stood at +60.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (+50.1% per year) and Morocco (+2.2% per year).

In value terms, Central African Republic ($X) remains the key foreign market for wooden furniture for kitchens exports from Cameroon, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with an 8.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Central African Republic totaled +52.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (+50.0% per year) and Morocco (-6.6% per year).

In 2022, the average wooden kitchen furniture export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -54.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 195%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Central African Republic ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ghana (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Cameroon

In 2022, wooden kitchen furniture imports into Cameroon fell dramatically to X units, declining by -33% on 2021. In general, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 92%. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 118%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

Italy (X units), the UK (X units) and Turkey (X units) were the main suppliers of wooden kitchen furniture imports to Cameroon, with a combined 52% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Portugal, France, Lebanon, Germany, Belgium and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Portugal (with a CAGR of +99.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the UK ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wooden furniture for kitchens to Cameroon, comprising 24% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 11% share.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 30%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
