The United States (X units) was the main destination for broom, brush, and mop exports from Canada, with a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, broom, brush, and mop exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X units), ninefold. Switzerland (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at -5.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (-9.4% per year) and Switzerland (-4.9% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for brooms, brushes, and mops exports from Canada, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 2.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Switzerland, with a 1.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to -4.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (-11.4% per year) and Switzerland (-5.9% per year).

Imports into Canada
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of brooms, brushes, and mops, when their volume increased by 13% to X units. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports amounted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest broom, brush, and mop supplier to Canada, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, broom, brush, and mop imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), threefold. Mexico (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6% share.
