Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 38%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, nucleic acid imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of nucleic acid imports to Canada, together accounting for 60% of total imports. Switzerland, India, Belgium, Mexico and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
