The average shelled hazelnut export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico totaled $X per ton.

Shelled hazelnut imports into Canada declined slightly to X tons in 2021, waning by -4.8% against the previous year. In general, imports showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of shelled hazelnut to Canada, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, shelled hazelnut imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X tons), with a 16% share.
