In value terms, transporter and bridge cranes exports declined significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 137%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X units) was the main destination for transporter and bridge cranes exports from Canada, with a 79% share of total exports. Moreover, transporter and bridge cranes exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X units), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States totaled +7.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+79.9% per year) and Mexico (-16.2% per year).

Overall, imports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 325% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, transporter and bridge cranes imports shrank markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 321% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
