The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 99% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood charcoal imports to Canada, together accounting for 84% of total imports. These countries were followed by Paraguay, the Netherlands, Indonesia and Antigua and Barbuda, which together accounted for a further 12%.
