From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main destinations of exports of wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp from Canada, with a combined 81% share of total exports. India, South Korea, Japan and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +7.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of wood pulp, excluding mechanical wood pulp soared to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.2% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
