The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. from 2018 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

Mongolia was the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Turkmenistan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total imports.

Imports into Mongolia increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+X%), Kyrgyzstan (+X%), Kazakhstan (+X%) and Uzbekistan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. By contrast, Tajikistan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkmenistan (+X p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+X p.p.), Uzbekistan (+X p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2007-2020, the share of Tajikistan (-X p.p.) and Mongolia (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Mongolia ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2020, together comprising X% of total imports.

Turkmenistan saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the acyclic hydrocarbons import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by X% against the previous year. Import price indicated a modest increase from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.
