After four years of growth, shipments abroad of agricultural and forestry tractors decreased by -56.7% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 124% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, agricultural and forestry tractor exports contracted notably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 85% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 82% of total exports in 2021. Tajikistan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X units). All these countries together took approx. 15% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -9.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+55.2%) and Uzbekistan (+36.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +55.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-28.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +7.4, +7.4 and +4.8 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the largest agricultural and forestry tractor supplier in Central Asia, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 6.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled -2.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+15.7% per year) and Tajikistan (+34.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, agricultural and forestry tractor export price decreased by -29.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 41%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Kazakhstan ($X per unit) and Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) and Uzbekistan ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2021, imports of agricultural and forestry tractors in Central Asia stood at X units, remaining relatively unchanged against 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, agricultural and forestry tractor imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 107% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the four major importers of agricultural and forestry tractors, namely Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units), generating a 7.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +7.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest agricultural and forestry tractor importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Turkmenistan ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X), with a combined 91% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +19.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 37% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+12.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
