Uzbekistan prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 96% of total exports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Uzbekistan decreased at an average annual rate of -32.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +3.4% from 2012-2022. While the share of Uzbekistan (+96 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-95.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) emerged as the largest ammonia supplier in Central Asia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Uzbekistan totaled -28.8%.

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -14.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 106% against the previous year. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 102%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, ammonia imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Kazakhstan represented the key importer of anhydrous ammonia in Central Asia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 65% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), constituting a 35% share of total imports.
