The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 922%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, twine product exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 3,495%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Uzbekistan (X tons) was the major exporter of articles of twine, cordage, rope or cables, generating 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), making up a 19% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X kg) held a minor share of total exports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the articles of twine, cordage, rope or cables exports, with a CAGR of +44.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+22.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-29.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+73 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+12 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by -84.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) emerged as the largest twine product supplier in Central Asia, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 9.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan amounted to +66.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+15.9% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-0.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 211% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 976%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+42.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
Twine product imports surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 56% compared with 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, twine product imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +57.3% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) dominates imports structure, together creating 82% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), making up an 8.9% share of total imports. Mongolia (X tons), Turkmenistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +80.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest twine product importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X), together accounting for 88% of total imports.
Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +66.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -21.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 25%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
