The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 2,917% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Uzbekistan (X units) was the largest exporter of babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted), achieving 85% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units), constituting a 15% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to baby garment exports from Uzbekistan stood at +27.1%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+52.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan stood at +45.1%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, growing by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 152% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan amounted to $X per unit.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted) was finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. Overall, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 236%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, baby garment imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 80% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Uzbekistan (X units) was the key importer of babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted), making up 74% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (7.5%). Tajikistan (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to baby garment imports into Uzbekistan stood at +26.6%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+38.2%), Kazakhstan (+13.2%) and Kyrgyzstan (+12.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +38.2% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +74 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest baby garment importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 94% share of total imports.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +41.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 98% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+12.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
