Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -55.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Mongolia stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+1.3%).

In 2021, battered fish fillet imports in Central Asia soared to X tons, with an increase of 16% on 2020. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, battered fish fillet imports reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the main importer of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs in Central Asia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 67% of total imports in 2021. Mongolia (X tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (10%) and Kyrgyzstan (8.8%).
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -8.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+20.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +20.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mongolia (-15.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (-17.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+11 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+10 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Mongolia (-7.8 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (-10.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs in Central Asia, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mongolia ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 6.7% share.
In Kazakhstan, battered fish fillet imports shrank by an average annual rate of -8.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mongolia (-16.4% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-14.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
