In 2021, the Central Asian bismuth market decreased by -8.8% to $X, falling for the eighth year in a row after two years of growth. Uzbekistan was the key importing country with an import of about X kg, which resulted at 50% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X kg), Kyrgyzstan (X kg), Kazakhstan (X kg) and Turkmenistan (X kg), together constituting a 50% share of total imports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the bismuth imports, with a CAGR of +50.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+14.6%), Kazakhstan (+13.7%) and Turkmenistan (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bismuth in Central Asia, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 14% share.

In Uzbekistan, bismuth imports expanded at an average annual rate of +41.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kyrgyzstan (-5.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+12.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, declining by -3.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 29%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkmenistan (-0.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
