In general, consumption continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), mixing up a 13% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bituminous mixtures exports from Turkmenistan stood at +19.1%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+324.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Turkmenistan ($X) remains the largest bituminous mixtures supplier in Central Asia, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 3.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkmenistan stood at +13.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+411.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (-31.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 30%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+20.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of bituminous mixtures, when their volume decreased by -43% to X tons. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 543% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, bituminous mixtures imports contracted sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 210% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together mixing up 93% of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +247.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Tajikistan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 95% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +187.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 47%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
