Exports in Central Asia
For the third consecutive year, Central Asia recorded decline in shipments abroad of electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets, which decreased by -45% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 506% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electric board, desk and panel exports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 153% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Kazakhstan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units), together accounting for 99% of total export.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +80.9%).
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest electric board, desk and panel supplier in Central Asia, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 24% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, electric board, desk and panel exports declined by an average annual rate of -8.6% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 94% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan totaled $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (-3.1%).
Imports of Electrical Boards, Panels, Consoles, Desks and Cabinets
Imports in Central Asia
In 2021, approx. X units of electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets were imported in Central Asia; with an increase of 6.5% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 58%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electric board, desk and panel imports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the key importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 51% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Mongolia (12%), Turkmenistan (8.4%) and Kyrgyzstan (6.4%). Tajikistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electric board, desk and panel imports into Kazakhstan stood at -2.1%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+23.8%), Kyrgyzstan (+22.9%) and Uzbekistan (+12.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +23.8% from 2012-2021. Mongolia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-8.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan increased by +18, +5.3 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets in Central Asia, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to -6.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-17.6% per year) and Turkmenistan (-15.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -10.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
