The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 213% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, calcareous building stone exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 396%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the largest exporter of calcareous building stone, generating 72% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X kg), Kyrgyzstan (X kg) and Mongolia (X kg), together achieving a 28% share of total exports.

Mongolia, with a CAGR of -9.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -10.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 255%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, calcareous building stone imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 266% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the major importer of calcareous building stone, comprising 73% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together making up a 26% share of total imports.
