The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ceramic tile exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a significant expansion. Exports by Country

Uzbekistan represented the key exporter of ceramic tiles in Central Asia, with the volume of exports recording X square meters, which was near 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X square meters), achieving a 14% share of total exports.

Exports from Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +29.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+42.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +42.4% from 2012-2022. Kyrgyzstan (+8.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Uzbekistan saw its share reduced by -9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest ceramic tile supplier in Central Asia, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 24% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per square meter in 2022, growing by 8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 88%. The level of export peaked at $X per square meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per square meter), while Uzbekistan stood at $X per square meter.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2022, overseas purchases of ceramic tiles increased by 1.7% to X square meters, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +67.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, ceramic tile imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X square meters) represented the major importer of ceramic tiles, comprising 44% of total imports. Tajikistan (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Uzbekistan (22%) and Mongolia (6.5%). Kyrgyzstan (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +28.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ceramic tiles in Central Asia, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled -3.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+11.0% per year) and Tajikistan (+18.0% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per square meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per square meter), while Tajikistan ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
