Uzbekistan represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 46% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 27% share, followed by Turkmenistan (15%) and Mongolia (6.7%). The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up 5.8% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Mongolia (with a CAGR of +13.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 86% of total imports. Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
Mongolia, with a CAGR of +14.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
