Helicopter Market Size in Central Asia
The Central Asian helicopter market fell rapidly to $X in 2022, waning by -26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of civil helicopters decreased by -8.3% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 1,500% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, helicopter exports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 267% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Kyrgyzstan was the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 55% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units). All these countries together took approx. 45% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of -1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest helicopter supplier in Central Asia, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 22% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, helicopter exports decreased by an average annual rate of -9.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kyrgyzstan (-7.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (-18.0% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 4.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 2,000%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+9.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
Helicopter imports shrank notably to X units in 2022, which is down by -64.2% against 2021. In general, imports, however, saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 289% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, helicopter imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 228% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of civil helicopters, namely Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Mongolia (X units) held a 9.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (5.7%) and Turkmenistan (5.7%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Mongolia (with a CAGR of +17.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest helicopter importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Tajikistan ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X), with a combined 83% share of total imports. Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
Mongolia, with a CAGR of +74.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 27% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+48.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
