Exports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X kg) was the largest exporter of cloves, creating 67% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X kg), comprising a 33% share of total exports.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cloves exports, with a CAGR of +40.3% from 2012 to 2022. Uzbekistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Uzbekistan (+33 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -32.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest clove supplier in Central Asia, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 29% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan amounted to +47.9%.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 31%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+48.2%).

Imports in Central Asia
Clove imports soared to X tons in 2022, jumping by 122% against the previous year. In general, imports posted a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, clove imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the main importer of cloves in Central Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 75% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together generating a 23% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to clove imports into Kazakhstan stood at +8.2%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+33.5%) and Uzbekistan (+29.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +33.5% from 2012-2022.
