Exports from Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +29.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+45.1%) and Turkmenistan (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +45.1% from 2012-2021. Kyrgyzstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Tajikistan (-21.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan increased by +46, +19, +13 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 92% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of +79.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -21.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 140% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+23.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
Vegetable or animal colouring matter imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, picking up by 29% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 173%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, vegetable or animal colouring matter imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
