Totaliser Market Size in Central Asia

In 2021, the Central Asian totaliser market increased by 116% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a prominent expansion. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Totaliser Production in Central Asia

In value terms, totaliser production skyrocketed to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a prominent increase. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, totaliser exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 592% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the one major exporters of continuous and discontinuous totalisers, namely Kazakhstan, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the continuous and discontinuous totalisers exports, with a CAGR of -23.4% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest totaliser supplier in Central Asia.

In Kazakhstan, totaliser exports declined by an average annual rate of -27.2% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -10.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 319% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.

From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to -3.9% per year.

Totaliser Imports

Imports in Central Asia

Totaliser imports soared to X units in 2021, picking up by 211% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, totaliser imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Mongolia was the major importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 75% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 16% share, followed by Uzbekistan (6.6%). Tajikistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Mongolia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the continuous and discontinuous totalisers imports, with a CAGR of +34.4% from 2012 to 2021. Kazakhstan (-2.6%), Uzbekistan (-9.6%) and Tajikistan (-14.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Mongolia and Uzbekistan increased by +61 and +6.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest totaliser importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Mongolia ($X), with a combined 98% share of total imports.

Mongolia, with a CAGR of +7.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -40.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price faced a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Mongolia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (-2.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
