Conveyor or transmission belt exports soared to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 102% on 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a sharp decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 116%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, conveyor or transmission belt exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Kazakhstan represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 76% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Tajikistan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 24% share of total exports.
Exports from Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -23.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+92.3%) and Tajikistan (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +92.3% from 2012-2021. Uzbekistan (+18 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+5.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -23.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the largest conveyor or transmission belt supplying countries in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Tajikistan ($X), together accounting for 99% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +79.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -28.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 41%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (+11.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2021, purchases abroad of conveyor or transmission belts or belting decreased by -4.1% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 56%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, conveyor or transmission belt imports reached $X in 2021. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -5.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 81% of total imports in 2021. Mongolia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together took near 12% share of total imports. The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up 5.6% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to conveyor or transmission belt imports into Kazakhstan stood at +8.8%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+14.4%), Tajikistan (+1.7%) and Mongolia (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +14.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-19.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+5 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+4.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Tajikistan (-1.5 p.p.) and Mongolia (-6.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported conveyor or transmission belts or belting in Central Asia, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 6.6% share.
In Kazakhstan, conveyor or transmission belt imports increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-2.9% per year) and Mongolia (+1.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
