In 2021, Uzbekistan (X tons) was the main exporter of copper tubes and pipes in Central Asia, mixing up 99% of total export.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the copper tubes and pipes exports, with a CAGR of +110.9% from 2012 to 2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +53 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) also remains the largest copper tube and pipe supplier in Central Asia.

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 69% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 71%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Uzbekistan.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2021, the amount of copper tubes and pipes imported in Central Asia expanded markedly to X tons, increasing by 8.1% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -3.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
In value terms, copper tube and pipe imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +145.6% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 75% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Turkmenistan (X tons). All these countries together held near 17% share of total imports. The following importers - Mongolia (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up 7.3% of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+65.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +65.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Tajikistan (-1.5%), Turkmenistan (-5.6%), Mongolia (-7.0%) and Kyrgyzstan (-7.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+12 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia saw its share reduced by -2.5%, -5.4% and -5.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported copper tubes and pipes in Central Asia, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 4.6% share.
In Kazakhstan, copper tube and pipe imports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+73.8% per year) and Turkmenistan (-7.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 42% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Tajikistan ($X per ton) and Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Mongolia ($X per ton) and Turkmenistan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
