In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded significant growth. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 87% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), making up an 8.6% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the crispbread, rusks and toasted bread exports, with a CAGR of +29.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+15.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-30.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the largest crispbread, rusk and toasted bread supplier in Central Asia, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 7.3% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports expanded at an average annual rate of +31.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-24.6% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+16.1% per year).

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -25% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 59%. Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Central Asia
Crispbread, rusk and toasted bread imports expanded remarkably to X tons in 2022, increasing by 14% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 37%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the main importer of crispbread, rusks and toasted bread in Central Asia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 67% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together committing a 28% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of crispbread, rusks and toasted bread. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+47.4%) and Kyrgyzstan (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +47.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (-2.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +16 and +3.5 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported crispbread, rusks and toasted bread in Central Asia, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with an 8.5% share.
