Curtains Market Size in Central Asia

In 2022, the Central Asian curtains market decreased by -0.5% to $X, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in overseas shipments of curtains and interior blinds, which increased by 168% to X square meters in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, curtains exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a strong expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Uzbekistan (X square meters) was the key exporter of curtains and interior blinds, achieving 75% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X square meters) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Turkmenistan (X square meters) and Kyrgyzstan (X square meters). All these countries together held approx. 25% share of total exports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the curtains and interior blinds exports, with a CAGR of +75.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+61.2%) and Kazakhstan (+11.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-27.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan amounted to +85.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+10.3% per year) and Turkmenistan (+52.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per square meter, rising by 35% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 83%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per square meter), while Turkmenistan ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded decline in purchases abroad of curtains and interior blinds, which decreased by -0.2% to X square meters in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 191%. The volume of import peaked at X square meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, curtains imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 225% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X square meters), Turkmenistan (X square meters) and Uzbekistan (X square meters) represented the main importer of curtains and interior blinds in Central Asia, achieving 86% of total import. Kyrgyzstan (X square meters) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.3% share, followed by Tajikistan (6.1%). Mongolia (X square meters) held a minor share of total imports.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per square meter in 2022, with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
