The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mongolia (+18.7%) and Uzbekistan (+6.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +18.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-1.0%) and Tajikistan (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Mongolia increased by +20 and +2.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported butter and dairy spreads in Central Asia, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with an 8% share.
