The Central Asian desktop computer market soared to $X in 2021, surging by 18% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Central Asia
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of desktop computers, when their volume decreased by -60.1% to X units. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 168% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, desktop computer exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 177%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 88% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), comprising a 9.1% share of total exports. Mongolia (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to desktop computer exports from Kazakhstan stood at -10.8%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+134.7%) and Mongolia (+15.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +134.7% from 2012-2021. Uzbekistan (+9.1 p.p.) and Mongolia (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -11% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest desktop computer supplier in Central Asia, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled -5.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+98.8% per year) and Mongolia (+19.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 23% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Mongolia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
Desktop computer imports skyrocketed to X units in 2021, increasing by 18% against 2020. Overall, imports saw moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 235%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, desktop computer imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 132%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) dominates imports structure, together comprising 87% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units), creating a 6.6% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X units) and Mongolia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +71.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest desktop computer importing markets in Central Asia were Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X), together comprising 94% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +55.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 17% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 31%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-0.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
