Exports in Central Asia

In 2021, exports of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon in Central Asia dropped remarkably to X tons, which is down by -83.2% compared with 2020. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 67,985% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, disperse dye exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 35,128% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Uzbekistan (X tons) represented roughly 100% of total exports in 2021.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the disperse dyes and preparations based thereon exports, with a CAGR of -13.9% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+99 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) also remains the largest disperse dye supplier in Central Asia.

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 609% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw resilient growth. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Uzbekistan.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon, when their volume increased by 34% to X tons. In general, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 581% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 194% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Uzbekistan dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 79% of total imports in 2021. Turkmenistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 16% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+50.0%), Kyrgyzstan (+19.5%) and Turkmenistan (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +50.0% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan increased by +79 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported disperse dyes and preparations based thereon in Central Asia, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkmenistan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3.5% share.

In Uzbekistan, disperse dye imports expanded at an average annual rate of +19.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkmenistan (+11.7% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+28.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 47% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a moderate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+15.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
