Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+16.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +16.7% from 2012-2021. Kazakhstan (+7.7 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest plastic extruder supplier in Central Asia, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 2.8% share of total exports.

In Kazakhstan, plastic extruder exports increased at an average annual rate of +20.4% over the period from 2012-2021.

Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 110%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, plastic extruder imports fell dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate measured growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 310% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Uzbekistan represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which recorded 54% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) took a 32% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkmenistan (9.6%). Tajikistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +57.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 12% share.

In Uzbekistan, plastic extruder imports shrank by an average annual rate of -6.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-11.2% per year) and Turkmenistan (+28.0% per year).
