Exports in Central Asia

For the fifth year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of fire-fighting vehicles, which increased by 60% to X units in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 200%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 215%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Uzbekistan (X units) was the major exporter of fire-fighting vehicles, mixing up 88% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), committing a 13% share of total exports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the fire-fighting vehicles exports, with a CAGR of +34.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Kazakhstan (+13 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Uzbekistan (-12.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest fire-fighting vehicle supplier in Central Asia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports.

In Uzbekistan, fire-fighting vehicle exports increased at an average annual rate of +44.9% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -2% against the previous year. Export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, fire-fighting vehicle export price increased by +86.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 80% against the previous year. Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, purchases abroad of fire-fighting vehicles decreased by -29.2% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle imports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Mongolia represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 54% of total imports. Turkmenistan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units) and Tajikistan (X units). All these countries together took approx. 45% share of total imports.

Imports into Mongolia increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+16.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +16.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-6.7%) and Kazakhstan (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mongolia (+24 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+8.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Turkmenistan (-13.4 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (-20.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Mongolia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fire-fighting vehicles in Central Asia, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkmenistan ($X), with a 9.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 7% share.

In Mongolia, fire-fighting vehicle imports increased at an average annual rate of +26.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkmenistan (-13.9% per year) and Tajikistan (+10.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed noticeable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 81% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+20.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
