Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the flat-rolled products of iron or steel (not further worked than hot-rolled) exports, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest hot-rolled steel products supplier in Central Asia.

Over the period under review, imports saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 76%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, hot-rolled steel products imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Uzbekistan was the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 66% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), mixing up a 28% share of total imports. The following importers - Mongolia (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each recorded a 4.3% share of total imports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the flat-rolled products of iron or steel (not further worked than hot-rolled) imports, with a CAGR of +170.2% from 2012 to 2021.
