Fluoropolymers Market Size in Central Asia

Imports in Central Asia

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 320% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Uzbekistan represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which amounted to 78% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), comprising an 18% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X kg) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+9.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +9.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+78 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-30.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fluoropolymers in Central Asia, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports.

In Uzbekistan, fluoropolymers imports declined by an average annual rate of -1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-5.3% per year) and Turkmenistan (+8.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, fluoropolymers import price increased by +88.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 100%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkmenistan (-0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
