In 2021, prepared dish and meal exports in Central Asia expanded markedly to X tons, growing by 7.6% against 2020. In general, exports recorded a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 200% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, prepared dish and meal exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest prepared dish and meal supplier in Central Asia, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mongolia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan amounted to -11.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mongolia (+67.5% per year) and Uzbekistan (+64.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 25%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Mongolia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+7.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
Prepared dish and meal imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, picking up by 33% against 2020. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, prepared dish and meal imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a buoyant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the largest importer of prepared dishes and meals, committing 54% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Mongolia (13%), Kyrgyzstan (7.4%) and Turkmenistan (5.3%). Tajikistan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to prepared dish and meal imports into Kazakhstan stood at +6.0%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+50.4%), Kyrgyzstan (+6.9%), Mongolia (+4.9%) and Tajikistan (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared dishes and meals in Central Asia, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mongolia ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled +8.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mongolia (+13.1% per year) and Uzbekistan (+48.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
