While the share of Kyrgyzstan (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-2.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest frozen freshwater fish supplier in Central Asia, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 9% share of total exports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +38.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 28% against the previous year. Import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, frozen freshwater fish import price increased by +69.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 30% against the previous year.
