Exports in Central Asia
In 2022, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of frozen whole turkeys, when their volume increased by 12% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, showed a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 199%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen whole turkey exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, faced a dramatic contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 103%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the key exporter of frozen whole turkeys in Central Asia, mixing up 100% of total export.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the frozen whole turkeys exports, with a CAGR of -29.4% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest frozen whole turkey supplier in Central Asia.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled -32.1%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to -3.7% per year.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, approx. X tons of frozen whole turkeys were imported in Central Asia; growing by 151% against the previous year. Overall, imports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 552% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen whole turkey imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 685% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Uzbekistan prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 87% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), mixing up a 6.3% share of total imports. The following importers - Tajikistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each finished at a 6% share of total imports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the frozen whole turkeys imports, with a CAGR of +742.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+12.4%) and Tajikistan (+11.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+87 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -4.6%, -5.1% and -71.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported frozen whole turkeys in Central Asia, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 9.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3.5% share.
In Uzbekistan, frozen whole turkey imports increased at an average annual rate of +375.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-4.4% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+21.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -28.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+8.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
