Exports in Central Asia

For the sixth consecutive year, Central Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers, which increased by 18% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports showed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 77%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, furnace burner exports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 74%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan was the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 56% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X kg). All these countries together took near 40% share of total exports. Turkmenistan (X kg) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +261.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest furnace burner supplier in Central Asia, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 7% share.

In Kazakhstan, furnace burner exports shrank by an average annual rate of -9.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+55.0% per year) and Turkmenistan (0.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -41.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 37%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-1.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, the amount of furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers imported in Central Asia expanded rapidly to X tons, with an increase of 5.4% against the year before. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +84.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, furnace burner imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a pronounced increase. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan was the largest importer of furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers in Central Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 61% of total imports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a 31% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkmenistan (5.5%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +60.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported furnace burners, mechanical stokers, mechanical grates and mechanical ash dischargers in Central Asia, comprising 80% of total imports.
