Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 514% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
In value terms, starch glue exports fell notably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 485%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Kyrgyzstan represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 48% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 52% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +32.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 100% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +45.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 32%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 134% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, starch glue imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 97% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Uzbekistan was the key importer of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches in Central Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 40% of total imports in 2021. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Mongolia (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 60% share of total imports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches imports, with a CAGR of +61.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+29.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Turkmenistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-1.5%) and Mongolia (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +40 and +17 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 79% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +41.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 36%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Mongolia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
